North-East Scotland bird atlases: digital versions now available

Two comprehensive bird atlases covering North-East Scotland are now available as free PDF downloads.

The Birds of North-East Scotland (Steve Buckland, Mike Bell & Nick Picozzi, 1990) is a comprehensive account of birds all year round, covering Aberdeenshire and Aberdeen City and underpinned by atlas maps for the period 1981-1984.

The Breeding Birds of North-East Scotland (Ian Francis & Martin Cook, 2011) is a 2x2km tetrad-based atlas of breeding birds, for the period 2002-2006, covering the above area along with Moray. It was supported by the SOC and produced by the local SOC branch.

Both were very well received, but are long out of print. More information at: Bird Atlases of North-East Scotland.
